Here are some photos of how the display is put together.  We begin with boxes of rope light arriving from the supplier, then an idea is formed generally by modifying drawings from a children's coloring book. The design is copied onto clear plastic to go into the overhead projector so that it can be recopied full scale on wrapping paper.  Animation is achieved by layering pages of clear plastic on top of the original to see the various position of an arm or leg. Then it is off to the wire forming and welding.
